so, I gotta question...
See, last year I had calendars made for my nearest and dearest featuring my photography. The final product turned out well (if not a little too pixelated for my taste) but they cost me a BLOODY FORTUNE to have done. The time is here to create a new one and here's where I need your advice...
I am considering printing and assembling them myself this year. This is a big undertaking and after crunching all the numbers, it doesn't make a ton of sense unless I make a bunch of them. The image above is a collage of nine possible images that I am considering. Each month of the calendar will feature one photo. Is this something you might like to purchase for yourself (or your nearest and dearest) from my Etsy shop? Does $28 seem like a prohibitive number? I am thinking 80 lb. cover stock paper, 11 x17 sheets (upper half photo/lower half text), full color....
I am not asking for a final commitment, more of an "oh yes, mama, get these things up on your etsy site tooot sweeet" or "dude, that is way more than I am comfortable paying" or "um, EVERYONE makes a calendar" or "yes, I'll take four, please"...
Your true and valued opinion is humbly requested.

I hate to say it, but if the 2009 stunning calendar also becomes an obvious marketing/promotional tool/calling card for your photo/art business, then if just one gig comes from it... Done deal chicken peel.
you already got my vote over on flickr. I say, "hell yes" (and am now singing the beck song...)
I would love to have your art hanging around my house/office. and thinking about how much I have paid for the port2port press calendar or one of the local nonprofit calendars from here in town, $28 is reasonalbe.
a calendar is a loverly idea. and...if you need an extra pair of assembly hands...i'd be HAppy to help!
since your pictures are soooo nice I think I will buy two but I think that 28$ is too much - 25$ max - I know that is just 3 dollars difference but...
hooray! I like the candy corn for easter month. beautiful, as always.
these images would make beautiful calendar..i don't know about price, it also depends how much it would cost you to make it...
just follow your inspiration :)
thanks for all the advice so far! PLEASE keep the opinions coming (even if you want to be anonymous)...
anon: leave it to a lovely man like you to see the bigger picture for me...I had not really thought of it that way. but, of course, you are right. and more done deals, please (if you are picking up what i am laying down).
ness: you are a peach, i'll put one aside for you fo sho.
dreamin: oh my, wouldn't that be fun?! an assembly party? weeee!
mommy tan: so funny, I kept thinking all day yesterday that the number felt a bit too high and then your comment came in... and TWO? yay!
lisa: you are psychic! at minimum very very clever - that's EXACTLY what the candy corn photo will be used for :)
vedrana: thank you so much - the reminder to follow my instincts is happily received on every level :) - hope you are well on the other side of the world.
there are a few more comments over at flickr as well and they are just as supportive...you guys rock!
since I'm one of your near and dear, I don't know if you'll let me pay for a calendar... but here are my comments on images (I float it out here instead of on your porch so people can veto me)
#1 airplane shot doesn't do it for me
fireworks shot I'd need to see larger to tell... but I like the drama
spring tree shot is not as unique as some of your other work
the rest i completely LOVE

I don't thing $28 is too much. A generic store bought one is almost $20 already. I'm sure folks would rather just pay the extra $8 and look at your fabulous photos for a year.
OK? Whoever said donedealchickenpeel? I love you.
And I think it will be my christmas gift to all my sibs so... I'm lookin at like... 5 or 10. I love the big fat October oh-ate pumpkin I'm gaZin' at right NOW... Hey Les? Can you make one page with all 12 months maybe? I would love one for my long-range planning...

I just adore all your photos and these nine makes a lovely set. I would buy one! Calendar I mean.
Thanks for being my blog reader in blog network in FB :) I have to admit that I've stolen your "love is everythere" idea...
I love the idea, but I'm a cheapskate and wouldn't spend $28 for a calendar (especially in this economy). I do LOVE the photos you've chosen. Good luck!
