Ode to The Sun.
It has been nine years since I discovered The Sun magazine while sitting newborn vigil with my dear friend Rebecca in her living room. It sat innocuously on the side table...I picked it up, soon after subscribed and have not stopped going back to it since.
Decidedly left but even more decidedly human...more a friend than a magazine. There are a few b&w photos, no ads, and then just writing. Non-fiction, fiction, poetry, Readers Write...so very much.
Reading it over the years I have frowned, belly laughed, raised an eyebrow, hit my head against the wall, heaved a happy sigh and like last night while reading a poem in the January issue by Alison Luterman called 'Because Even The Word Obstacle is an Obstacle' just openly wept.
In other words, I love The Sun.
Buy it.
Read it.
Love it, too.

my marriage proposal story revolves around that wonderful magazine. it is a long story though...i won't write it here.
i had to cancel my subscription when we decided to cut back on expenses...(when we decided i would stay home with babychop). but i am thinking maybe i need to splurge a little...
I too am a devoted lover of The Sun. It is not only beautiful, but it has managed to keep it's integrity when other publications have caved.
oh Kathleen, I would so love to hear that story one day :) and please do splurge if you can...I've cut back on many many things but have steadfastly held to The Sun because of what it does to my world :)
yes Honey, isn't that the truth! thanks for stopping by and commenting :)
I have a friend whose poetry is regularly published in The Sun. I do love it so, if only for that reason. :)
My Father and I agreed to call it 'the Rain' Because of its penetrating and sad stories. Wonderful publication.
I just signed up for my free trial :)
quite possibly my most favorite magazine.
